The TV was a low buzz in M-21's ears as he watched it, a large bowl of popcorn on his stomach as he leaned back against Takeo's side. His feet dangled off the edge of the sofa, his slippers still on (seeing Frankenstein lift an eyebrow at Tao with his feet of the furniture had been enough of a warning for all of them).
The film they were watching was...weird, but it was made for and by non-modified humans; it probably wasn't weird to them how long the characters' wounds were taking to heal or how long the fights were taking at that speed.
It was still interesting enough to watch, M-21 translating any words Takeo made a soft sound at or repeated.
They looked across at the living room door opening, Tao walking in.
"Finished the security check?" M-21 asked, moving to sit up to give Tao room.
Tao didn't reply. Not verbally, and Tao's grin was all the warning they had before Tao threw himself at them.
M-21 hissed, Takeo grabbing the bowl of popcorn and lifting it away as M-21 snapped his arms out to catch Tao before he landed on both of them.
"Asshole," M-21 said with a roll of his eyes, Tao manoeuvring himself to be parallel to M-21.
Tao patted M-21's side, plucking the bowl from Takeo's hands. "I knew ya'd get me!" Tao said grabbing a handful of popcorn as M-21 lowered him down.
"Of course you did," M-21 grumbled, getting used to Tao's weight and warmth on him.
"I thought you would have stopped doing that after the third time," Takeo said, reaching over to get some popcorn for himself.
"Gotta keep ya on your toes, heh." Tao threw a popcorn into Takeo's direction without looking, and Takeo caught it in his mouth. It was better than the first time Tao had done that and it had bounced off Takeo's head, then M-21's nose and then rolled under the table.
Tao tilted his head back so M-21 was breathing in his hair to look at them both. "Sooo, what's this one about?"
M-21 snorted. "There's no point telling you — you always end up making your own plot and reasons for what everyone's doing."
"Because my ideas are way more interesting!"
This time both M-21 and Takeo snorted.
"But fine," Tao said with a huff. "I'll figure out the real plot by myself."
Which wouldn't be anywhere near the truth, but M-21 didn't say that, settling down again to watch.
