Tao sucked in a breath, fumbling with his phone, the blood on his fingertips dried just enough to stick to the screen. He could feel his bones shifting back into place, areas hot where his healing was doing overtime and then some. He was still better off than Takeo and M-21 — he was still conscious, and he coaxed their bodies closer to him with his cables, making sure to not jostle them. It would be better to keep them close in case that hadn't been the only Union people in the area.

In hindsight, it would have been easier and less messier if he'd used his cables on his phone instead of his fingers, but it was a liiittle hard to think with the stabbing pain down his side. And the worrying growing pool of blood growing underneath Takeo and M-21.

"Tao?"

Tao smiled. "Hey, Boss." His voice came out as a croaky wheeze, and he was sure that was blood creeping up his throat. "Can - can you come pick us up, please?" Unless Boss was involved with his own fight (everything always seemed to happen at once), but if Boss picked up, that meant he was free.

"Of course. We're already on our way." The wind was blowing on Boss' side, but the air was still on their side. He was rooftop hopping. The others must have heard or felt their fight on the island then.

"Thanks." He ended the call, and dug his fingers into the sand, sending his cables out underneath them and spreading them out, making a network. He couldn't collapse just yet, not when he wasn't sure they were alone yet and had no way to check.

The others were breathing -a little ragged but still breathing- and Tao pressed a cable next to their necks to keep track of their pulses.

Light had edged into the corners of his vision, bright enough to make it hurt as a buzzing filled his ears when he felt vibrations right over a couple of his cables. Shit! Tao threw the cables there at the person, wrapping them up. One person. So far but -

Huh?

There was a fizzle of energy down his cables, one Tao recognised. It wasn't sharp like electricity, but there was intent there, a whisper of voices just below Tao's hearing. There was only one person Tao knew who gave off that kind of energy.

"Boss?"

"It's us," Boss confirmed, still not moving.

"'Kay." He let go with a sigh, concentrating on drawing his cables back, feeling the vibrations as the others came closer.

Now he could rest.
