The streets were too crowded. Wherever M-21 looked, there were people, their pets and whatever wild animal was scavenging around the trash. He could feel eyes on him and he shoved his hands deeper into his pockets, glaring at any person who made eye contact – they quickly dropped their gaze and he sneered at that.

It didn't matter.

He could still feel more eyes on him, making his skin prickle and he hated that feeling, hated how it reminded him of when he and M-24 had been trapped within the Union's walls, because gaining the attention of a scientist meant hours of feeling his blood boil under his skin, his insides being torn to shreds over and over again, not being able to trust what he could hear, what he could see.

And who knew if any of those eyes were other Union agents - and if that agent saw either of his or M-24's newly-developed abilities… Shit. That was another reason why they had to keep from being seen, but they hadn't found their target's usual haunts yet. Tch.

"Hey…" M-24 said, and M-21 glanced up at his comrade, waiting to see what he would say. M-24 didn't, jerking his head towards the building across the street from them instead, and M-21 looked, scanning the faces for their target, but he couldn't find her. Puzzled –M-24 wouldn't have drawn his attention for no reason- M-21 widened his search, trying to pick out what M-24 had seen.

It was when M-21 looked up, he realised what M-24 had wanted to tell him.

The rooftops. It would give them a clear view of everything, let them see further than on the ground, and it meant they could stay away from curious eyes.

He smirked, nodding. It was perfect.
