It was like Seoul had decided that morning would be the start of winter, the temperature plummeting more than five degrees lower than it had been constantly at for the past month, grey clouds threatening snow overhead. M-21 had seen a lot more scarves and gloves out at the school, as well as red noses and ears.
His skin tingled when he entered the house, feeling the distinct difference between outside and in, Takeo only a step behind him (Tao had said he’d wanted to buy something and had dashed off before telling them what exactly it was, or if he’d wanted them to come. They’d agreed they probably didn’t want to know).
The temperature wasn’t the only thing different, M-21 found, after he’d changed his shoes and entered the house - there were sparkly decorations everywhere, draped over lights and any available surface, multicoloured lights twinkling and-
M-21 sneezed. He wrinkled his nose; there was something in the air that was making the inside of his nose itch. He sneezed again, sounding more like he was blowing air through his teeth than actually sneezing. Dammit.
"Mm? What’s wrong?" Takeo asked him and M-21 shook his head.
"They put something out my nose is reacting to." At least he didn’t sound like his nose was clogged up as well.
Takeo placed a hand on his shoulder, squeezing it as he moved to stand next to him. “I can’t see - ah, I think I found it.”
M-21 followed his gaze, and his face blanked when he saw what was hanging right above their heads. “Who the hell put mistletoe there?”
"Whoever put up the rest of the decorations? Maybe the children."
He sighed, staring up at it. The rest of the household probably didn’t know what mistletoe meant (apart from Frankenstein, and the thought of Frankenstein’s master being underneath the mistletoe with someone while Frankenstein could see them wasn’t an experience M-21 wanted to have).
His view was suddenly filled with purple, warm lips pressed to his. Takeo was gone before he could react properly and he blinked at the other man, both his eyebrows raised.
Takeo cleared his throat, a small smile on his lips. “Seeing how we were both under it at the same time…”
"You were just following tradition," he said dryly, a smile curving one of his mouth as well.
"Yes." Takeo glanced at the mistletoe again. "I’ll get the stepladder."
M-21 drew his eyebrows in this time, watching Takeo already walking off. “Why?” If the children had put it up, then it wouldn’t matter, but if he had put it up, there wasn’t anything they could do about it.
Takeo just looked over his shoulder at him. “It bothers you; they’ll understand.”
…Ah, yeah, they would, wouldn’t they? While Takeo went to get that, M-21 started to search around in case there were more bunches of the plant around the house.

Written for Kai's prompt, 'My character [accidentally] meets yours under the mistletoe' over here. This kind of grew bigger than I expected it to be.
I did have an alternate middle part where Takeo asked if he could kiss him, and M-21 replied with, ‘Unless you want me sneezing in your face, no.’ And M-21 initiated the kiss in that version too, pfft.
