Sakura watched as Hina slept, the rise and fall of her chest, hearing her breathe. Proof she was alive. But soon...

Sakura took in a breath, held it for a second and then exhaled slowly. It didn't ease the knot in her stomach.

Killing Hina would be easy with her strength; Sakura had seen how fragile the human body truly was from all the times she'd spent fighting. How easy it was to break bone, for the wrongly applied strength to kill. And once the deed was done, she had a few ideas of how to hide she was the murderer.

Murderer. That was what she would be after this. She clenched one hand into a fist and she didn't have to look to know it was trembling.

She had to do this. If she didn't, then-

Her attention snapped to the monitor as it flickered on, Monokuma sitting there, a wine glass in his hand.

"Oh my, doesn't she look cute like that?" he cooed, soft enough that Hina didn't stir. "She fell asleep straight away — she must really trust you, huh?"

Sakura gritted her teeth at the pointed words. She hadn't done anything to earn that trust, and yet Hina had asked her to stay over with no hesitation. Hina had come to her for safety and her first thought was how she would kill Hina when she'd accepted.

"As much as I would love to watch you kill her-" The air caught in Sakura's throat. "-your services aren't needed tonight."

Sakura blinked, able to breathe again, relief flooding through her. "What?"

Monokuma held a paw in front of his mouth and he chuckled, his shoulders shaking. "Someone else has decided to start the game! And we wouldn't want to confuse things by having two Blackened now, would we?"

She stared at him, the knot in her stomach growing again, for different reasons. "...I see."

"And that's all I have to tell you. Sleep tiiight!" The monitor winked off.

Sakura strained her ears but the room was silent apart from Hina's breathing. Like nothing was happening.

But outside, someone was killing another.

She could - she should - Sakura closed her eyes and Monokuma was probably watching and laughing at her.

She wouldn't be able to explain how she knew there was a murder happening if she stepped in to stop it, not without revealing her relationship with Monokuma. And the whole reason they were in this game was to kill each other.

So she would have to step aside, pretend she knew nothing.

Only Hina's breathing disturbed the air as Sakura settled down into the make-shift bed she'd made and she waited for sleep to take her.
