Yang Ming knocked on his sister's door. "Sis?" No answer. He checked his watch. She should have been up by now if she wanted enough time to get ready without running around the whole house, tearing it apart trying to find her stuff. "Lan?" He pushed the door open – the lights were still off.

He switched them on, only at half the brightness though; the lump under the duvet didn't even twitch.

"Sis?" he tried again. Still nothing. When he saw his sister's face, he shook his head and smiled. "Still playing Second Life?" he murmured. Her team probably didn't even make it to the finals, if they'd even entered it. Well, they weren't learning anything interesting today, so he'd let her lie-in – she needed all the training she could get.

"I'm home!" he called out as soon as he opened the door. He got a small groan as a reply. It sounded like it came from the kitchen...

His sister was sprawled out over the kitchen table, face down. She raised a hand in greeting.

He laughed loudly when he saw her; her hand flipped around and showed her middle finger. "You've got no stamina, you know that?"

"Shut up..." was her strained reply.

The chair scraped against the floor as he pulled it out and he plopped down beside her. "What did you learn?"

She flinched away from his voice. "I'm never doing that again. Ever. It was fun but... Ugh. Never again." She somehow melted a little further into the table.

He patted her on the shoulder. It wasn't the answer he was expecting, and really, shouldn't she be coherent by now? How long had she been playing for? "I'll talk you out of it next time, okay?"

"Thanks..." she replied weakly.

"Anyway," Yang Ming said, rummaging in his bag. "You should see the amount of handouts and further reading we got!" He pulled out the brick of papers he'd kept for her and dropped them on the table.

"What?" she screeched, pushing herself up to stare at him – then she whimpered and slowly eased herself back to being horizontal again. "I missed all this?" she said mournfully, looking at the papers over her arm. Lan moaned. "I've got so much to catch up on!"

He shrugged. "It's for next week - "

"Even better!" she growled.

"And we're going to be tested on it," he continued.

She froze.

Yang Ming waited a few seconds before saying, "Kidding!" He laughed, but he refrained from pounding the table, because he was a nice brother; he pointed instead. "Your face! I should have taken a picture!"

"I am going to kill you!" Lan roared, swayed, and then put her head back on the table. "...Ow."

He laughed even harder.

"Damn." Yang Ming whistled, staring down at his sister. "You're still recovering from that? You really are a lightweight, aren't you?"

She glared pitifully at him. "I know."

"It's been two days already."

"I know." Lan huddled further underneath her duvet.

He picked up his bag and started walking out the room. "I'll tell you if we get any hints about exams," he said over his shoulder.

"Geddout geddout geddout!"
