Ezio could feel the other Assassins' eyes on him, causing his skin to prickle, but he ignored them for the most part as he went for breakfast. His body was craving coffee and he let the scent of it brewing fill his senses instead, brooding.

"Des – Ezio?"

That name was constantly on the other Assassins' lips, more ready than his blades to strike –but he didn't have his weapons here, only one hidden blade- and that was where the problem lay. Ezio could remember growing up in Firenze, flirting with the women there, watching the sunsets from the rooftops with Federico, but he could also had vague memories of Desmond's father, working in a bar, being taken out to see a movie with some acquaintances. They felt as if they were remnants of a dream, something that should be thrown away for being so outlandish, but here he was, watching coffee make itself in a warehouse so far from home in more ways than one.

When Ezio turned around, he wasn't surprised to find Lucy standing there, watching him. They had told him that it was the 'bleeding effect' when he had first woken (the term had both meant nothing and explained everything at the same time, making him realise straight away that something else was going on than being displaced) but when the thirty seconds came and went and Ezio was still standing there, the others' shock grew to being palpable.

There had been so many questions about his life and with every answer, they grew paler and paler, stepping back from him, shaking their heads. He hadn't understood why at the time, but when he retreated to a room to rest, he dreamed. Dreamed of being Desmond when he had been kidnapped, of escaping The Farm, of trying to figure out what the Templars were trying to do in this time. In the morning, Ezio had went to the bathroom and found a stranger's face staring back at him.

That was when he realised he wasn't the real Ezio any more than he was the real Desmond, but that was the identity that he felt most comfortable as.
