There was a bird in the kitchen. A red one, its glossy feathers the colour of blood, reflecting the lights so well they seemed to give off their own light; it was nearly as tall as Seira, but it only seemed like that since it was standing on one of the stools, its tail almost sweeping the ground.
It was familiar somehow and as Seira approached, she studied it, trying to figure out where from. The living room window was closed, as was the door to the entranceway, so it couldn't have flown in. But-
Oh. It was its aura that was familiar to her, his age and strength instantly identifiable. And that was why she recognised it: she had seen it once before, except it had been several times larger, the lines of the body flickering like a bonfire. Now that it wasn't in flight, she could see the teeth jutting from its beak, the two long feathers that flared back from the crown of its head.
But if it was here, then what had Raizel… Seira's thoughts trailed to a stop when the bird looked at her, that gaze also familiar to her.
"Seira," the bird greeted, tilting its – his head at her. His voice was exactly the same as when Raizel was in his human form, though it was accompanied by the clack of his beak.
"Raizel." They had worried when he had refused to hibernate, wondering if that would quicken him going to eternal sleep, but…she had not thought something like this was a possibility.
"I will only be like this for a few hours," he told her and she nodded, opening the fridge.
"What would you like for breakfast?" In that form, he wouldn't be able to-
"Ramen."
…
If that was what he wanted, then that's what she would make for him.

I had a bit where Rai told her that form was his real form, but he's talking to Seira so she would realise he's EVEN MORE different from regular nobles and she might have asked questions. On the other hand, I'm also playing with the idea that Clan Leaders can eventually, with age and power, turn into their Soul Weapon's spirit thing. X3
But yeah, I just wanted to write phoenix!Rai. They both have wings soooo… I've done worse on much less, hahahahaha.
