Tao was singing along to one of the songs the children had recommended him as he worked on his computer. It was bouncy enough to make Tao bob his head to the beat, swaying his cables at the same time.

He heard his door open but he kept going, letting whoever it was approach him first. He was just about to get to the good part!

He still hadn't been interrupted by the time the chorus ended, so Tao leaned back to look at the door. Had they left and he hadn't heard them?

There was a large wolf sitting in his room, head tilted and ears pricked in Tao's direction. Whose ears twitched every time the beat went faster.

"Heya, M!" Tao said, grinning. He gestured him closer. "It's just music — it won't hurt ya, see?"

M-21 looked at him, and then back at the speakers.

"Still not hurting ya."

"Hrrr..."

M-21 started picking his way closer, hesitating every few steps, and Tao slipped out his chair to meet him halfway.

"See?" Tao said as he stroked M-21's ruff, sitting down next to him. "All it is is noise." And as much as the nobles of the house complained about it, it wasn't that bad.

M-21 huffed and licked Tao's lips, making him chuckle.

"We'll just stay here, all right? Nothing to worry about."

There were still a few hours left before sunrise, and who knew — maybe he could teach M-21 to sing along with music in that time!
