It was raining hard enough to thump against the window; Pup had his paws against it, wriggling as he whined.
Huffing, he nudged Pup back on all paws —Darkness-and-blood didn't like it when they put their paws on anything other than the ground.
Pup grumbled, scratching the air in front of the window.
He cocked his head at Pup -he wanted out? Hm- then glanced at the entrance. Opened the door wouldn't be hard...
He patted Pup on the head then aimed for the door, his claws clicking on the floor, hearing Pup bound after him.
When he reached it, he pushed himself up onto his hind legs and placed his paws on the metal box next to the door. His ears flicked at a 'click' and the door opened.
Cool air greeted them and Pup dashed out, snapping at the rain, leaping at it.
He followed, splashing in the pools of water by the grass, tail wagging as a stronger wind blew over. It had been stuffy inside and he was finally able to cool down.
He looked over at a short bark — Pup was already covered in mud and Pup dropped down, stretching his paws.
An invitation to play. Huffing, he wagged his tail in response and Pup raced away. He chased him, sliding over the grass, using his tail to keep his balance when he swerved away from Darkness-and-blood's flowers.
They chased each other around the garden until Pup fell and skidded across the grass. When Pup didn't get up straight away, he squelched over and nuzzled him.
He got a soft grunt and a brief tailwag in response. Tired, then.
He picked Pup up between his jaws, making sure to not use too much force. He carried Pup to the front door but stopped just before he set a paw inside.
His paw was wet and muddy. All of him was.
Darkness-and-blood didn't like his house getting dirty.
"Hng." He set Pup down on the front step and nipped his ear to make him stay put, then went back into the rain, circling the house. He tilted his head up as he went around, and his ears pricked up when he saw the lights on in one room above him.
He backed up a few steps and then took a running leap at the house, digging his claws into the wall when he landed and pressed his nose against the window.
He wagged his tail when Metal-and-static stood up and went over to him.
"Oh man..." he heard, Metal-and-static's voice muffled. "Stay there, okay?" Metal-and-static said, holding up his hand, his palm facing him.
He shook his head -he couldn't hold on for that long- then pushed himself away from the wall and dropped down to the garden. He trotted back to the front step, finding Pup still there. He licked Pup's head, getting a grumble in return, Pup huddling against him.
It wasn't long until he heard two people approach and he perked up, his tail already wagging. His packmates! And they had piles of towels in their hands.
"Of course you can open the door," Metal-and-static said, flashing his teeth as he flicked a towel onto the floor. "C'mon then, stand on here — and don't shake yet!"
He picked Pup up again and set him on Metal-and-static's towel. Metal-and-static pounced on Pup with another towel, rubbing Pup down.
"M-21."
He looked towards the sound of his name and wagged his tail at Oil-and-gunpowder.
Oil-and-gunpowder patted the new towel on the floor and he padded over, dodging as Pup started playing with Metal-and-static.
"We're just drying you enough so we can get you into the house," Oil-and-gunpowder told him.
"Nng?"
"Yup," Metal-and-static said. "Then we'll give you two a proper wash."
Oh. That was fine.
He closed his eyes and sighed, content in the company of his packmates.
