"Excuse me-" Desmond jumped, the words coming out of nowhere, far too close to his ear –the only reason why the person didn't get a fist (or hidden blade) to the face was because the voice was catergorised as familiar/friend before the rest of Desmond's instincts could kick in- and Desmond scrabbled to block Shaun's view with his body, "-but what are you doing?"

"Nothing!" Except, fuck, he'd said that too quickly, too guiltily, and Shaun's silence made him squirm.

"I see..." Shaun peered over his shoulder again, down at the set of wings Desmond had been doodling. "An owl, if I'm not mistaken? Though I must admit it's a little hard to tell with your skills but the pattern seems about right." His eyes slid to Desmond's. "Seen one lately?"

Desmond desperately hoped his face heating up wasn't as obvious as it felt. "Uh, yeah." He also really hoped he wasn't staring at the wings Shaun didn't know he had and were what had prompted Desmond to start doodling in the first place.

Shaun hummed before holding his hand out expectantly. Desmond blinked at it. "If you could be so kind as to give me back my pen, some of us have work to do." The wings rustled in agitation and Desmond dragged his gaze back to Shaun's face; why he had started seeing wings on people outside the Animus –moveable wings that seemed to reflect the person's emotions- was beyond him. He just hoped it was more to do with the Animus glitch than the bleeding effect.

"Oh, right." Desmond fumbled with the pen and practically threw it in Shaun's hand, hoping if he did it quick enough, Shaun wouldn't ask any more questions.

He thankfully didn't, turning away and stalking off – and giving Desmond a close-up of his wings.

Desmond was fairly sure he was going to be stealing Shaun's pen as soon as he left it somewhere again.
