M-21 stared wide-eyed at the transparent horses that were galloping towards him and he knew it was the Bleeding Effect, knew they would pass through him harmlessly, but hearing the echoing conversations in Italian around him made his mind scream that they were there, they were real, and how ironic was it that he could recall Ezio's life so clearly when he didn't have his own fucking memories and-

The visions faded, replaced by Tao and Takeo and the next second, he felt their hands on him, their talk filling his ears and he let that ground him, their touch, their voices, as he leaned into them, just breathing, making sure he was in the right century.

Sometimes, M-21 wondered if his ancestors' lives were filling the void in his own head and that every time he stepped into the Animus, he was destroying his chance of recovering his memories, but if that's what it took to keep one step in front of Abstergo, then he would keep doing it.
