Tao snickered to himself as he span in the Boss' office chair – its movements were quiet and smooth, no squeaking even to his ears. He'd finished the adjustments to Boss' office and was taking a well-earned break doing absolutely nothing.
And maybe he should leave Boss a note for when he came back (and Boss was coming back, with Miss Seira, Regis and Rael in tow). Boss had packed away his laptop so that meant pen and paper. Hm. If he were the Boss, where would he put those…
Tao got it right on the first try with the desk drawer and – oh? Boss' reading glasses? Tao picked them up and inspected them from all angles. It was weird that Boss would still wear them when he could modify himself but maybe Boss liked the way he looked like with them.
Tao slipped them on, pushing them up his nose like he'd seen Boss do before and squinted through the lenses. Everything was mostly the same except for the stuff close to him, huh.
He heard a pair of footsteps approaching the office and he checked the feeds. Takeo and M-21. Grinning, he hid the tech away again and span the chair around so he would be hidden from view when the two entered.
The door clicked open and he heard them walking in.
"Tao, we know you're there – you haven't left the entire day."
Tao swivelled around, his elbows on the armrests, his fingers steepled in front of his face as he peered at them over the glasses. "How'd I look?"
"Frankenstein's going to kill you," M-21 said with a snort.
"That's not what I asked," Tao said, pouting. "Fine, fine." He placed the glasses back where they belonged, locking the drawer and hiding the key where he'd found it.
"How was the patrol?" he asked them, changing the topic to something more serious.
"Quiet," Takeo said.
"Good. Hnnng!" Tao stretched, interlocking his fingers and pushing his palms towards the ceiling. "Time to go home?" he asked once he was done.
M-21 nodded.
"Sweet!" Tao hopped to his feet. And once they were there, he could check out where everyone was now, in case they needed some help.

I still think Tao injected everyone with a tracker – how else did he find them on Roctis' island?
