Tao peeked into the living room, trying to see if – aha! Target found.

Boss' master was there, sitting with a cup of tea in hand and hm, Tao hadn't seen him drinking anything else yet. But that wasn't important right now. And he could investigate better later, once this was out the way.

"Heeey, can I ask you a question?" And this had to be the first time Tao had spoken to him since offering him an earpiece. He entered the room and settled on one of the chairs next to Boss' master, tapping a finger on his thigh as he bounced his leg.

He got a headtilt in reply, and that meant continue, right? It wasn't a scowl or a crossing of arms telling him to say his piece as quickly as possible and then leave.

"Boss," Tao started, and this was learning a different set of body language from what he was used to. Maybe it was because Boss' master was a noblesse? Regis was easier to read, but that could be because he was young, seeing how Miss Seira acted… "Uh. He keeps looking at me funny." It wasn't an assessing glance like from a Union scientist but… Still. "I don’t wanna ask him in case it's something he doesn't wanna remember, you know?" Tao understood that, and if it was something he wasn't supposed to know, Boss' master would know that too.

Boss' master nodded, setting his teacup down. "There was a boy who used to call him Teacher; it was a title he had been given without asking."

Huh. Like he'd just done. Tao slotted the pieces together. "He met a bad end, didn't he?"

Another nod.

Tao winced. "Maybe I should stop calling him that…" If it reminded Boss every time.

"No." Huh? Tao blinked at him. "If Frankenstein didn't want it, he would have told you."

Oh. "You do know him the best." Which was why Tao had gone to ask him in the first place.

Boss' master smiled as Tao stood up.

"Thanks."

Tao still wasn't sure, but for the moment, it was enough.
