Summary: Tao's not sleepy. Really.

Tao had been playing with the puppy in his nekomata form for some time, both chasing each other and playing with the puppy's toys.
When the puppy tumbled over and stayed there, still tagging his tail when Tao approached him again, Tao nudged him towards his bed.
"I think we should go to bed too," Takeo said, watching Tao wander away.
Tao turned his head to look at him, his ears flattening for a second. "What do you mean? I'm fine! I've done way more on less sleep."
Takeo could hear Frankenstein's voice in his head saying that just because he'd done it before, it didn't mean he should.
"We aren't you," M-21 said, "so we're going to bed."
Tao sniffed and started making his way towards them. "Okay, but only 'cause you two are."
Takeo shared a look with M-21 and M-21 sighed, shaking his head, a smile on his lips. Tao wasn't moving in a straight line, and his eyes were almost fully closed as he walked. Takeo wouldn't be surprised if Tao was using his sense of smell to find them rather than his sight.
"Aren't you going to change back?" Takeo asked as he stood up. Tao was fast in that form, but when he was that sleepy, he could end up walking right into a wall.
"Why would I need to?" Tao said. "I told ya, I'm not sleepy!"
M-21 walked over to Tao, who didn't notice his approach and he squirmed when M-21 picked him up.
"M-!" Tao didn't try to jump away though, wriggling deeper into M-21's arms.
"What?"
"...Mean... I can totally go up by myself."
That was all the argument they got from him and Takeo lead the way to his room. It was the closest, and if they slept together, he and M-21 could keep an eye on Tao in case he tried to sneak out.
Tao still hadn't changed back into his human form when Takeo and M-21 were ready and Tao crawled on top of Takeo once he lay down, rolling over Takeo's chest like he was trying to find the perfect spot.
"Takeo, how're you so waaarm?"
"I'm bigger than you right now?" He didn't have a good answer for that question, and M-21 snorted next to him.
"You're bigger than him in his human form too."
...Ah, right.
"Then it definitely makes sense Takeo's the warmest out of all of us!" Tao stretched, his paws pressing against Takeo's chin, his toes at his hips, like he was trying to soak up as much of Takeo's warmth as he could.
"I thought you said you weren't sleepy?" M-21 said.
"M'not!" Tao scrambled to sit up again, and Takeo shot M-21 a look for reminding Tao about that again. "See? Perf - perfectly awake!"
Tao's head was already dipping forward, his eyes closed.
They waited a few seconds, but Tao didn't move again, not even the tips of his tail twitching.
"I think..." Takeo murmured, not wanting to disturb Tao if he really was asleep.
M-21 prodded Tao on the nose. Apart from a lone ear flick, there was no other reaction from him. "He is."
Takeo reached over and lifted Tao by the front legs and lay him back down, just in case Tao fell off him like that.
Tao curled up before Takeo let go and when Takeo started petting Tao's head and M-21 stroked Tao's body, Takeo felt Tao's purr rumble through his chest before he drifted off himself.
