"Hey, Tao...?" Tao's door was ajar, so when Takeo knocked, it swung open. Being greeted by the sight of an entangled web of cables, technology and whatever else had caught Tao's eye wasn't new, and was something Takeo had grown accustomed to whenever he visited Tao's room. There was usually one delivery a week for him, so at least one folded up cardboard box in the corner before Tao recycled it wasn't strange either.

What was out of place was one side of the cardboard boxes in pieces on Tao's desk next to his laptop. Not ripped, but cut into specific shapes. They were mostly large ovals with two large holes in the middle, while the edges were different on each one. Some had half circles running across the edge, while others had points facing outwards. There were larger ones where Tao had scored into them, leaving fluttering trails.

"What are you doing?" Takeo asked, turning his attention to Tao.

"Mm? Playing a game?" Tao hadn't looked over at him yet, still facing his monitor. On it was the game Tao had been engrossed in for the past week.

"I mean...on your desk."

"On my...?" Tao's hands stilled. "Nooothing?"

Takeo knew that tone. "I'm seeing at least five masks." That had to be what they were by the shape of them. Tao couldn't deny that was what they were.

Tao's hands started pressing keys again. "I saw some of the masks in this game and thought they were cool!"

The camera span and Takeo saw Tao's character with a feathered mask on her face.

"And you made them out of cardboard?" Takeo asked, looking back at Tao's desk.

"Well, they were on hand and I was going to throw them away anyway, so what better to use for designs than that?" Tao beamed at him, turning his chair around and steepling his fingertips. "Did ya want something?"

"Ah, yeah." Takeo nodded, remembering why he'd gone to Tao's room in the first place. "Frankenstein's just about to finish a new batch of ramen, if you want to-"

"Sweet!" Tao leapt to his feet. "I'm starving, let's go!" Tao grabbed Takeo's hand and started tugging him towards the door. "Don't want to keep Boss waiting!"

Takeo was able to throw one glance back before they left and saw Tao's cables tidying the masks away into drawers.

...He was going to have to warn the others before Tao surprised them with his new project...
