M-21 frowned when he woke up. He didn't open his eyes just yet since he wasn't alone but...

There was a small furry body pressed up against him, almost right under his chin, purring with every breath.

Tao.

It should have been Tao, but his nose was telling him it wasn't.

When he opened his eyes, he was greeted with ginger fur, not black.

What... His window was still closed. His bedroom door was ajar though.

Someone walked past his door, then came back a second later to poke their head in.

M-21 pursed his lips at Tao, then sent a pointed look at the kitten still sleeping on top of him.

Tao grinned, sneaking in. "I brought her in because she needed shelter — looks like she found the warmest body to sleep with!" he whispered, scratching his fingertips down the kitten's body.

M-21 rolled his eyes. "I thought cats hated me." They tended to run at the sight of him.

"I don't, and this kitten clearly has good taste."

M-21 snorted at that, then narrowed his eyes at Tao when all he did was keep petting the kitten. "Aren't you going to take her?"

"Why would I do that?" Tao said, his eyes going wide in the way when he was pretending to be innocent while trying not to laugh. "She's comfortable!"

He growled at that.

"Are you going to be a big meanie-pants and wake her up?"

The kitten shifted as Tao said that, meowing.

"Ah, see?" Tao said. "She's awake now!"

The kitten seemed more interested in exploring M-21 than going back to sleep and M-21 sighed, letting her. He had the feeling she was going to be hanging off him for the rest of the day.
