M-21 sighed as he stretched out in the bath, the hot water soothing his aching muscles. He didn't have a bath often, but maybe he should start making a habit of it after he'd practiced his transformation...
He turned his head towards the sound of someone in his bedroom, frowning. There was only one person who that could be.
"Tao, get out," he called out, ready to leave the bath if he had to. There were far too many things Tao could do with his phone or leave in his room to chance it.
He didn't get a response and just as M-21 was about to stand up, his bathroom door swung open.
It was the puppy that scampered in, his claws clicking on the tiles.
"Oh," M-21 said, watching the puppy run up to him, wagging his tail. "Hey." He must have left his bedroom door open.
The puppy scrabbled at the bath before heading for the plastic step to the side. M-21 lunged, water sloshing everywhere as the puppy jumped over the edge, catching him before he hit the water. "Hey!"
The puppy wriggled, whining as he tried to escape M-21's grasp and get into the water.
"You...want to join me?" M-21 asked, blinking at him. "It's too deep for you." Maybe if the puppy stayed on his hind paws all the time he'd be able to keep breathing, but otherwise, no.
The puppy didn't seem to care, still wriggling. "Fine," M-21 said with a sigh, bringing the puppy closer as he leaned back in the bath again. The puppy's claws pressed into M-21's skin, but they weren't sharp enough to pierce and there wasn't much he could do when the puppy splashed up his torso to lick his face.
"Yeah, I'm - here," he said, scratching the puppy's back, hoping to distract him. It helped, the puppy leaning into his touch.
They stayed in there for a while, the puppy paddling for a bit before returning for more scratches. When M-21 was done, he lifted the puppy up and said to him, "Stay in here, all right?"
The puppy nodded, wagging his tail, and M-21 set him down on the floor. He shook himself off as M-21 got out the bath and grabbed a towel, dropping it on the puppy.
The mound was still for a second before the puppy bounced out, making M-21 smile.
"Oi, c'mere," he said, picking the towel up again. "You need dried up."
The puppy grumbled but came over and M-21 started rubbing him down.
"Now you can go," M-21 said once the puppy was as dry as he could get him, and the puppy zoomed off.
It didn't take long for M-21 to get ready for bed but he blinked when he went back to his room and found the puppy by his bed, waiting for him. His door was still open, so it wasn't as if the puppy was trapped here...
"You want to sleep with me tonight?" M-21 said, shaking his head, already knowing the answer.
The puppy ran up to him and M-21 caught him mid-leap.
Breathing a small chuckle, M-21 carried the puppy to his bed and once he lay down, the puppy snuggled up against him. M-21 petted him until the puppy fell asleep, and then drifted off himself.
