The first time Muzaka visits Rai is a surprise.

The second time Muzaka visits, it’s a surprise he visits again within a few days rather than centuries.

Then it’s a surprise the werewolf Lord won’t leave.

The third time Muzaka visits, he brings items from places Rai’s never seen, insisting he keep them.

The more Muzaka visits, the more Rai gets used to him, his presence, waiting for Muzaka’s return and that in itself is a surprise.

The next time Rai feels Muzaka’s presence, he’s surprised to feel Muzaka’s not his usual self, filled with grief and rage.

Dread clenches Rai’s heart and he knows he won’t be surprised by what he’ll find, but he goes to where Muzaka’s aura is strongest anyway.
