Tao peered at the piece of fabric he’d laid out on his window. That should have been enough time…
He could already feel the energy emitting from it and he grinned as he held his hand over it. Electricity sparked between the fabric and his hand like he knew it would.
Perfect!
Of course, since he’d made it. Now how to apply it… A bangle would be inconspicuous, but it wouldn’t hold that much charge. He could tweak it some more so it would, but right now he needed something in case of emergencies.
Something he wore every day already so it wouldn’t be obvious…
…Oh. That would work.

“Ta daaa!” M-21 looked over from the kitchen to see Tao standing at the living room doorway, waving his hands with a flourish.
“What is it?” M-21 said after a second, Tao still holding the pose.
“I made this suit entirely from scratch!”
M-21 shared a look with Takeo, who was sipping his coffee. Takeo was also studying Tao, his eyebrows furrowed. Good. So he wasn’t the only one who couldn’t see any differences.
“Okay…?” M-21 said. M-21 couldn’t make a suit, but usually when Tao showed off something he’d made, he’d made changes that were obvious at a glance.
Tao beamed at them. “So this just looks like a regular suit, riiight?”
M-21 and Takeo nodded.
M-21 blinked, electricity flickering over Tao’s suit, flowing over to Tao’s hands. Hm. When Tao used his powers, it started at his hands.
“I found a way to make my suit into a battery,” Tao said, the light show dying down. “And it takes its power from sunlight and movement.”
“Which means it’ll always be fully charged,” M-21 said with a snort. Tao was always moving.
“Which’ll work in my favour,” Tao said, sticking his tongue out at him. “So I’ll have a convenient power supply if I ever run out aaand just in case I do run out of juice, I’ve made you two a suit as well. All I’ll hafta do is get close enough or pat you and I’ll get the energy the suit’s collected too. They’re already in your rooms.”
Of course they were.
But if it helped Tao, M-21 would wear it.

M-21 dropped down to the street level, wincing a little at the impact. Broken bones and some internal bleeding his regeneration was working at, he was sure.
“You two all right?” he said, watching Takeo draping Tao’s arm over his shoulder, which meant Tao was still conscious after that fight and Takeo felt strong enough to support him.
“Bruised but alive,” Takeo said with a soft smile.
Tao gave M-21 a thumbs up and a bloody grin. “My suit worked! I had sooo much energy; it was awesome.”
And their opponents were strong enough that Tao was still draining energy from Takeo’s suit.
“Do you have enough?” M-21 asked, going over to take Tao’s other arm. He hadn’t asked how much charge the suits could keep.
“Mostly,” Tao said, “but I could do with a little more, just in case.”
M-21 nodded, not taking Tao’s arm just yet. Once Tao - wait.

Tao patted his ass.
When M-21 sent him a dry look, Tao snickered, throwing his hand over M-21’s shoulder. M-21’s skin tingled from the static energy running through Tao’s hand.
“It’s the only part of your suit that’s left!” Tao protested. “And I’m still trying to make something that doesn’t shred when you transform.”
“Convenient.”
“I’m serious!”
“I know you are,” M-21 said with a huff. Tao had taken it as a challenge to make M-21 a shirt he couldn’t destroy after transforming, and Tao took those seriously.
“Good.” Then Tao slumped, exhaling. Shit, he had to be more exhausted than M-21 thought he was.
“Let’s go home,” Takeo murmured and M-21 nodded, the three of them going back to the rooftops to make sure they wouldn’t be seen.
Happy late birthday, @madameazzure :D Who requested anything we’d talked about before, haha. Inspired by this conversation.
