“Tao…” M-21 sighed, rolling his eyes. “I’m not-”
“It’ll be fun!” Tao grabbed his hand, tugging him towards the balcony.
“I’ve never had the urge to howl at the moon,” M-21 grumbled, letting Tao lead him anyway. He only howled when he transformed and that was because he’d unleashed his power, not because of some ‘werewolf instincts’.
“Ex-act-ly,” Tao drew out. “It’ll be a new experience!”
M-21 grimaced. “And the neighbours’ll hear.” And ask Frankenstein questions.
“Naw, the ones in 31 are on holiday right now and the people in 33 are away for a birthday party.” Tao opened the balcony door and hopped up to the root.
Right. Of course Tao knew what their neighbours were doing.
The moon shone in the cloudless sky, a light breeze brushing the leaves in the trees, rustling them.
M-21 sighed again, following Tao up. He wasn’t going to howl at the moon (because he wasn’t a werewolf), but it was still a nice night to be outside.
Alternatively….
M-21 turned his head towards his bedroom door, hearing the balcony door creak open. That was weird… Everyone else was home and, as far as he was aware, mostly everyone was asleep. Except Frankenstein, but M-21 wasn’t sure he slept.
The footsteps were heavier than anyone’s in the house too, trying to be quiet, but a little hurried.
An intruder? Tao would have known already. Which meant it was someone-
M-21′s door swung open, Kentas rushing in. “There you are!” Without any other warning, Kentas charged at him and faster than M-21 could dodge, had grabbed him and threw M-21 over his shoulder.
“Kent-!” No time. “The fuck are you doing?”
“The full moon’s out!” Kentas didn’t continue, like that explained everything. He sounded excited, like he’d been waiting for it.
“And?” They were already out his room and heading for the balcony.
“And we’re gonna find the highest point in this place and howl at it! It’ll be great!”
Takeo’s door slammed open, but while Takeo had his guns, he was just staring at the fucking image M-21 was making, just dangling off of Kentas’ broad shoulder.
As Kentas hopped over to one of their neighbour’s rooftops and kept running, M-21 heard Tao’s strangled laughter.
He must have told Kentas what to do.
The bastard.
