Boss Tactics

Summary: Fighting a boss is hard enough as it is, but this one is a little more tricky.
Rating: K+

There's a boss in WoW that has an ability that means you do have to do this. XD
Ahaha~ I think I've lost Lan's voice... I'm a little too used to attempting the medieval turn of phrase and inputting long words now. XD;;
Genre: General
Word count: 603
Status: Complete
The minotaur in front of Lan was huge, probably three or four times her height. It was covered from head to toe in shaggy, black hair, and it was also wearing heavy, plated armour that glowed around the edges, paired with an axe that looked like it could easily go through a piece of metal as wide as she was. Possibly as tall as she was, considering the strength that was behind it.
It was definitely a boss; had to be, seeing how long they'd been whacking at it and it still hadn't fallen yet. If it weren't for a couple of dents on its leg protectors, as well as thick blood seeping through the cracks, Lan would have thought that their attacks were completely useless. But that didn't mean much when everyone's energy and magic was getting low, and they had no idea how much health the minotaur had left.
That was when it began stomping, its hooves rending chasms with every step, creating tremors that Lan could feel from her toes to her skull. She was having difficulty just staying upright, and more than a few times, she nearly ended up tripping over her feet.

Huh? Lan stared as her health began to dive with no discernible cause. She backed away uncertainly, seeing the others do the same. It didn't help, and she could only watch helplessly as her health plummeted even further. Had they been poisoned or something and didn't get a notification for it?
"Jump!" Lan heard over the racket of the roaring minotaur, the boom of its crashing hooves. "And keep jumping!"
What? But Lan started doing it anyway, because it was Lolidragon doing the yelling, and any kind of tips were welcome.

Okay, that was better. Not great, but definitely better than what it had been before.
Now she just had to hit the boss while jumping at the same time. Easy. ...Right. And she'd only been jumping for about half-a-minute and her legs were already beginning to feel like they could only go for another minute before they stopped listening to her.
So that just meant they'd have to take down the the boss in that time. With a lilting battlecry that rose and fell as Lan jumped closer, she slashed at the minotaur as soon as she was close enough. The mob howled as the dao bit deep.
'At least that's one good thing about all this jumping - I can put my full weight behind it.'
Two streaks of light screamed past Lan, impacting on the minotaur's shoulder. They must have hit something important, because the breastplate fell open, hanging grimly on with the strap on the other side.
With it now vulnerable, it didn't take very long before the minotaur roared one last time, its axe falling and hitting the ground with a thud before it did.
Not a second too soon. Drenched in sweat, Lan's legs collapsed beneath her, and she heard similar sounds of the others doing the same.
Huffing, Lan gasped, "We're not coming this way again." She could barely move, everything was aching so much.
There were noises of agreement around her, and Lan wondered if the others would mind if she took a nap right where she was. Probably not, since it sounded like someone had already dozed off (or lost consciousness).
Yeah, who cared if it respawned right on top of them - at least they'd definitely be safe at the rebirth point. Lan rolled over and was asleep instantly.
